1862-S Half Dollar (1862-S 50C) Seated, PCGS AU53 CAC. Civil War 1862-S Seated Half Dollar. This lovely Seated Half Dollar shows subdued mint luster within the devices on both sides. The obverse is mainly grey with white highlights and shades of pale blue and lavender. The reverse is proof-like with lighter devices and grey fields. Just a few marks in the fields and a touch of wear on the highest points keep this coin from a mint state grade. Except for stars 6, 7, and 8, the obverse strike is strong. Weakness is seen on the reverse in the right part of the shield the lower olive leafs and arrow heads.

This coin is beautiful. Of only 5 specimens of the 1862-S Half Dollar to be approved by CAC, this is the only one in AU53.
