Civil War Information and Resources

The American Civil War was the deadliest war that the United States of America has ever been engaged in. Over 620,000 Americans were killed in this 4 year Civil War beginning in 1861 with shots fired at Fort Sumter South Carolina, and ending at Appomattox Virginia in 1865. The American Civil War was unquestionably the most serious turning point in America’s history and scholars, students, professors and all interested persons have their own ideas of why the Civil War started, and what would have happened if it ended differently. It has been the most controversial period of time in American History.

There are huge volumes of Civil War information available in almost every country in the world. More books and periodicals are produced in reference to the Civil War than any other war in World History, and yet so very little is known about this war, this turning point in American history that it begs to have one more source of information written about it. One that reflects on the realities of the Civil War, in some areas also called the Second American Revolution.

Because of those and other reasons we welcome you to join in the creation of the Civil War Information Guide. Here, we hope to provide a meaningful resource for all people who are interested in learning about the Civil War. We hope to help provide a storehouse of Civil War information for all to research and investigate. Information that is not only provided to you the reader but provided from you the researcher and historian, with links to even more resources containing what we think will become the greatest wealth of research material anywhere, for all who wish to seek and find the truth about this war as we believe that in order for a person or country to truly know where one is positioned, or have an idea of what the future holds, one must know and understand the past. Here at the Civil War Information Guide, we hope to be a catalyst for that study.
